Confessions of a fangirl (part 4)

Time for another confession! This time I compiled a list of examples that will be a sure sign that you are a fangirl. I may safely say that I do most of the stuff below and other things may or may not have happened to me. Some things I used to do but not anymore. ;-P So, for people who know me a bit better, it will be fun to guess at that. And as life goes on, I will add points to this list. So be sure to check back once in a while. ;-) (By the way, the list is not in a particular order.)

Behold, my list of madness! I know, my condition is severe and there is no cure!

You know you're a fangirl when/The awkward fangirl moment when

you care about characters in books as if they were family members or friends.

you cry when characters die in books/movies/TV shows.

you feel weirdly attracted to some male characters in your favourite books/TV shows and caught yourself wishing they were real, at least a hundred times.
you're way too emotional while watching your favourite TV show and basically talk to your laptop pleading with or encouraging the characters to do what you want them to do.

use pictures of your favourite actors as background on your phone or laptop and your phone is Sherlocked. ;-P

you congratulate your character in the rare moments he or she did something right and (depending on the character) didn't walk right into the trap of the villain or isn't being a jerk as usual.

you want to stay lost in the story world after you finished a book.

you get this feeling of homesickness when you walk out of the cinema because you yearn to escape your boring life and live in the world of the movie you just watched.

someone tells you he/she doesn't read and you wish you could make them see what they are missing out on.

some of your friends have no idea what they are talking about, when they give their opinion on a movie adaptation of a book after only watching the movies (and never even planning on reading the book) and you have to stop yourself from cringing and enlightening them, for fear of sounding like a smart-aleck or even offend them with your superior knowledge of the story, the cast and basically everything surrounding the book and the movie.

you wish you could talk to someone about your latest obsession but don't know anyone else, who gets all fangirly about it as well.

you are not allowed to spoiler your fangirl friend because she hasn't read the final book or seen the season finale yet. (Especially, when you are about to explode with excitement and theories.)

someone says one of your favourite actors is stupid or ugly and you just want to punch them in the face.

you travel to Italy/London (or any other destination you are able to go to, really) for only one day, just to see your favourite actors shooting the movie or an episode of a TV show.

someone says that the voice of Smaug was awful and you have to use all your self-control to not punch him/her in the face. (Nobody disses Ben's gorgeous voice!)

Benedict Cumberbatch saying 'Laters' is your text message alert or the theme song of Sherlock, Doctor Who, soundtracks from movies ... (really the list is endless) are your ringtones.

you count the days until the latest trailer of the book to movie adaptation comes out and then you completely freak out while you're watching it.

someone compares City of Bones to Twilight because of the crappy movie version and you just want to let them have a taste of your right fist. (Apologies to everyone, who thought the movie was good. There are a few good parts in it ;-P)

someone looks down on you for being a fangirl and you just pity them because they will never have what you have. ;-P

you wake up from an awesome dream, in which you went on an adventure with your favourite characters and you'd love to go back to sleep and never wake up again.

you are daydreaming about one of your favourite characters and someone interrupts and laughs at you because you have been staring into thin air with a slightly open mouth for about a quarter of an hour. (That hasn't happened to me yet but I'm expecting it any day now.)

you feel like you should include fangirling into your CV because it takes up so much time of your life and it is hard work to be up-to-date with all the fandoms at all times.

you smile when you enter a bookstore and feel the excitement pump through your veins just like when you were a child and it was Christmas. The same goes for a package from amazon.

you buy too many books throughout the year and find yourself wishing you had your own personal library to fit all your books into shelves.

you wish you had a clone you could send to uni or work, so you can stay in bed the whole day and read.

you wish you could erase your memory to watch a cool episode or read an amazing book again to make it feel like it did for the first time.

you love the smell books and smile like an idiot when you sniff them.

you discuss what magical creature you are with your friends after you've done some silly test online and you realise your ten-year-old self would congratulate you on that.

your favourite song of your favourite band comes up on your mp3-player (yeah no iPod for me ;-) ) while you're walking in the city centre and you just want to start dancing and singing right there in the middle of the street.

you feel like crying (or generally get the feels) when a beautiful song from the soundtrack of your favourite book to movie adaptation comes up in your random playlist. ("I bid you all, a very fond farewell." Aaahh, the feels...)

you enjoy watching the specials on the DVD of your favourite movies and find yourself even more delighted discussing said specials and trivia about the movies with your fangirl friends.

someone cannot appreciate the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice and you just picture Colin Firth in the lake scene to get over this impossible insult.

you find yourself quoting characters from a book/movie/TV show at any related or unrelated event in your everyday life./you find events in your everyday life relating to an event in a book/movie/TV show, thought it is often too far-fetched.

you cry so hard or get way too emotional when a much loved character is killed off in one of your fav TV shows.

you finish a new fantasy novel and find out that it is part of a trilogy, only through the major cliffhanger at the end! And the next thing you know is that you have to wait ages for the sequel to come out. It is particularly frustrating since you should have known this by now because you already read dozens of fantasy novels, which rarely stand alone.

you feel like you can never get enough of your favourite characters and wish that everyone would be as awesome as Cassandra Clare, who wrote extra short stories on the best character that ever walked the world in her books.
I L-O-V-E-D The Bane Chronicles! =)

when you can't just walk past the Tolkien shelf in the library without getting one of the fascinating books about him and his world out. (Particularly when you're supposed to get books for studying out and you get the Tolkien book out instead of study books.)

when you'd love to wear elven clothes all day or at least an elven cloak against the rain. (But can't because you can't sew or afford to buy this stuff online)

you've accepted your madness and write about fangirling and expose yourself to the world through brilliant blog posts.

Have you ever experience an awkward fangirl moment? What happened? Any thoughts on and additions to the list are welcome. ;-)
Seriously, I'm expecting lots of comments! Let's create the longest list of fangirl madness on the Internet ever to be seen! Who's with me?

If you've missed the last confession, don't worry. It's right here! ;-)

Addition to the list by my awesome fangirl friends:

you realise your newish friends a non-believer and you kinda start wondering why you became friends with them in the first place.

when a friend wants to come with you on a convention but you don't want her there because you know in your heart she's not a real fan but just wants to go "to see what it's like".

when you've been dating a guy for so long that although he was totally "normal" in the beginning, you've turned him into your partner in fandom-nerdiness. And he never looked back.

you realise that you prefer fictional boys to the real ones because they set your expectations of men so high no actual person can live up to it.
